Manchester United 145k-a-week star regret’ his decision to join the Red Devils in the summer
Manchester United defender Leny Yoro is thought to ‘regret’ his decision to join the Red Devils in the summer, when it seemed as though a move to Real Madrid was looming – and has asked his representatives to finally make a move to the Spanish giants become a reality.
The young Frenchman burst onto the scene at Lille last season, igniting interest from clubs across the continent – and although it seemed as though the Spanish giants would secure his signature, United’s higher bid tempted Lille to sell to them in what was a major coup for the Premier League outfit. But now Yoro has reportedly stated that he regrets moving to the club and that could have implications this summer.

The report by Defensa Central states that Yoro ‘regrets’ his decision to sign for United last summer, and has asked agent Jorge Mendes to try to bring him to Real Madrid in the summer, knowing that the La Liga giants and current Champions League holders are looking for a centre-back. He was the top target for Florentino Perez last summer, but the problem for him is that United don’t want to sell him so soon after joining.

If they did so under a transfer request from the young Frenchman, the fee would be ‘very high’ – at least recouping the €60million (£52million) that they paid Lille for him last summer. Real Madrid wouldn’t like to pay that at all, especially after he turned them down for Old Trafford last season.
They’d rather pursue the signing of another player, and his performances in the Premier League haven’t been what they’d expected – and for that reason, the club aren’t considering that possibility. Instead, they could look to sign Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen or Arsenal’s William Saliba, despite the latter having a contract running until 2027.
Yoro’s departure, if he was to leave his estimated £145,000-per-week contract, would be detrimental to United and they would immediately have to address their centre-back concerns with Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans being out of contract, alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez being injured.
Ruben Amorim’s preference to play three centre-backs with wing-backs means that his ranks are extremely depleted at present and Yoro’s sale would seriously harm their summer plans.
