Ja Morant has solidified his commitment to the Memphis Grizzlies by signing a five-year designated rookie maximum extension, ensuring his presence with the team through at least the 2027–28 NBA season.
The contract, valued at $193 million, has the potential to escalate to $231 million if Morant earns an All-NBA team selection during the contract period.
Expressing his dedication, Morant tweeted, “Memphis is my home 💙,” shortly after the agreement was announced. Notably, the extension does not include a player option in the final year, indicating Morant’s long-term commitment to the franchise.
Morant’s performance has been instrumental in the Grizzlies’ recent success. In the 2021–22 season, he averaged 27.4 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game, earning him a spot on the All-NBA Second Team and the Most Improved Player award.
Beyond his on-court achievements, Morant has embraced the Memphis community, contributing to local initiatives and expressing a deep connection to the city. His commitment to the Grizzlies reflects both his personal growth and the team’s confidence in his leadership as they aim for future championships.
