BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal Monitoring Real Madrid Starlet Victor Valdepenas.

Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on Real Madrid’s highly-rated teenage center-back, Victor Valdepenas. According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Gunners are closely tracking the 18-year-old’s development, viewing him as a potential long-term addition to Mikel Arteta’s defensive ranks.

Valdepenas, a standout product of Real Madrid’s famed La Fábrica academy, has already earned a call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s senior squad this season—a significant milestone despite his limited minutes at the top level. His maturity, composure on the ball, and positional intelligence have sparked comparisons to fellow academy breakout Raul Asencio and rising talent Jesús Fortea.

Arsenal’s interest fits a broader recruitment trend under sporting director Edu Gaspar, targeting young, high-upside defenders with the potential to grow within Arteta’s system. The North London club has seen success with similar moves in recent years and is looking to continue that trajectory with early investments in emerging talent.

However, any pursuit of Valdepenas is likely to face firm resistance from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants view the teenager as a key part of their future, especially with incoming manager Xabi Alonso expected to place greater emphasis on youth integration. Alonso, a former La Fábrica graduate himself, is reportedly keen to fast-track young talent into the first-team setup—a plan that bodes well for Valdepenas’ development in Madrid.

At this stage, no formal offer has been made by Arsenal, and the situation remains speculative. Nonetheless, Valdepenas’ trajectory is one to watch closely, as both clubs continue to build for the future—with Real Madrid aiming to keep their gem in-house, and Arsenal prepared to pounce should the opportunity arise.
