🗣 “We would never do that.”
Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has revealed he had serious concerns with the first draft of the upcoming Beatles biopic—particularly the version centered on his life and perspective.
As the highly anticipated four-part film project begins to take shape, with each installment focusing on one member of the legendary band, Starr opened up about the moment he first saw the early script for his story.
In an interview with a close friend, Ringo admitted, “I read the script and said, ‘We would never do that.’ Some scenes were just wrong—things we never said or did.” Known for his laid-back personality and unwavering loyalty to his bandmates, Ringo emphasized that authenticity is non-negotiable when telling the Beatles’ story.
“I’ve lived it,” Starr said. “I was there. So when I see lines or moments that feel made-up, I can’t just nod and go along. We weren’t saints, but we weren’t cartoon characters either.”
The Beatles biopic, backed by major studios and helmed by acclaimed director Sam Mendes, is unique in its approach: each Beatle gets their own film, showing events from their point of view. While this gives room for depth and emotional nuance, it also raises the stakes for accuracy—especially with two of the Fab Four still alive.
Ringo made it clear he’s not against the project. “I love that the story’s being told,” he said. “But if my name’s on it, it’s got to feel true.”
Fans now wait eagerly to see how the final script will evolve with Starr’s input. As always, the Beatle who sang “With a Little Help From My Friends” is making sure the legacy is protected—with honesty, peace, and love.
