BREAKING: Viktor Gyökeres ‘On His Way to Arsenal’ as Gunners Break Deadlock with Sporting.

Arsenal appear to have finally made their move in the summer transfer market, with reports claiming that a deal has been agreed for Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres. The 26-year-old Sporting CP forward is said to be “on his way to Arsenal” after a large Gunners delegation travelled to Lisbon and successfully broke the deadlock that had previously stalled negotiations.

According to sources close to the talks, Arsenal have agreed to pay a fee close to €90 million (£76.5m), which includes add-ons and performance-related bonuses. Sporting had initially insisted on his €100 million release clause, but the Gunners’ persistence and willingness to structure a deal creatively appears to have sealed the agreement.

Gyökeres, who scored 43 goals and registered 15 assists across all competitions last season, quickly became a top target for Mikel Arteta. The Arsenal boss is believed to view the powerful, mobile striker as the missing piece in his attack — someone who can add physical presence and ruthless finishing to a talented but occasionally blunt frontline.

Arsenal’s negotiating team, led by Edu Gaspar, reportedly flew to Portugal earlier this week and managed to iron out final details late last night. Personal terms are said to have already been agreed, with Gyökeres expected to sign a five-year deal at the Emirates.

Medical tests are likely to follow swiftly, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.

If confirmed, Gyökeres would be Arsenal’s most expensive striker signing in history — a statement of serious intent as they gear up to challenge Manchester City once again for the Premier League title and compete in the Champions League.
