🚨 Arsenal Hijack Liverpool’s Move for Salford City Teen Sensation Will Wright.

Arsenal appear to have won the race to sign 17-year-old striker Will Wright from Salford City, in a dramatic late move that hijacked Liverpool’s initial offer. The Gunners swooped in with an improved bid of £250,000 plus significant performance-related add-ons, outbidding Liverpool, who had remained firm at £100,000 plus bonuses.

Wright, who is regarded as one of the most promising young forwards outside of the Premier League, enjoyed a sensational 2023/24 campaign, scoring over 40 goals for Salford’s youth side. Standing at 6ft 3in, the teenager possesses a strong physical presence combined with a natural eye for goal—attributes that have made him highly sought-after among top English clubs.

Liverpool had been leading the chase and were confident of sealing the deal earlier this month. However, Arsenal’s aggressive late push, led by their youth recruitment team, seems to have turned the tide in their favour. The North London club’s package not only includes a higher upfront fee but also offers Salford City a lucrative future if Wright progresses as expected, including sell-on clauses and appearance-related bonuses.

This transfer highlights Arsenal’s renewed emphasis on snapping up top young talent as part of their long-term strategy under Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar. Wright is expected to initially join Arsenal’s U18 or U21 squad, but the club believes he has the potential to break into the senior setup within the next few years if his development continues on its current trajectory.

Salford City are expected to officially confirm the deal in the coming days. For Arsenal fans, this acquisition adds to a growing list of smart youth signings aimed at building a dominant future core.
