🚨 BREAKING: AC Milan have stepped up their efforts to sign Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund this summer.

with negotiations intensifying between the two clubs.

According to sources close to the talks, United are holding firm on their £40 million valuation of the 22-year-old Danish forward. Milan, however, are pushing for a structured deal that would see Højlund join initially on loan, with a £35 million buy option, plus additional performance-related fees that could bridge the gap to United’s asking price.

Højlund, who arrived at Old Trafford just last year for a significant fee, has endured a mixed first season in England. While his pace, physicality, and work rate have impressed, inconsistent finishing and a string of minor injuries have limited his overall impact. Despite this, the Denmark international has made it clear in private conversations that his preference is to remain at United and fight for his place under current manager Rúben Amorim.

From United’s perspective, the decision is not straightforward. While they recognise Højlund’s potential, the club’s recruitment strategy this summer is heavily focused on freeing up funds for reinforcements in midfield and defence. Selling the striker for a substantial fee could provide the financial flexibility to pursue multiple targets, especially with Benjamin Šeško now through the door as a marquee attacking signing.

AC Milan see Højlund as an ideal long-term replacement for Olivier Giroud, whose departure leaves a significant gap in their attack. The Italian giants are confident their offer structure will appeal to United’s board, especially as it still brings the total package close to their valuation. Talks are ongoing, and both clubs are expected to revisit the terms in the coming days.

As it stands, the future of Rasmus Højlund remains uncertain — and the coming week could be decisive.
