England Premier League has revealed the referee for Sheffield United’s upcoming match against Liverpool…

Simon Hooper blew up for a foul on Erling Haaland with Jack Grealish in behind the Spurs defence, denying Man City the chance to score a late winner. Hooper was stood down after failing to award Wolves a penalty at Man Utd in August.

Wednesday’s match between Liverpool and Sheffield United will be officiated by Simon Hooper, who made a mistake during Manchester City’s 3–3 draw with Tottenham.

Hooper’s decision to call back a Manchester City advantage near the end of Sunday’s game has been acknowledged to be the result of human error.

After Erling Haaland was fouled, Hooper first let the game go on, but he soon blew the whistle as Jack Grealish got the ball 40 yards from goal and in behind the Spurs defense.

Hooper was removed from his position earlier in the season due to his inability to give Wolves a penalty for Andre Onana’s challenge on Sasa Kalajdzic in stoppage time during their 1-0 loss to Manchester United.

When the full-time whistle blew, referee Hooper felt the fury of the Etihad Stadium crowd, as Haaland argued with the officials before making his way through the tunnel.

Later on, the Man City striker responded to a video of the event on social media with the hashtag “Wtf”. This is a written acronym that contains a profanity.

Dermot Gallagher, a former Premier League official, stated on Ref Watch: “It’s challenging because this young man, in my opinion, plays advantage more than anybody else. He plays on pretty well, and suddenly Simon blows up for no apparent reason.

“The entire scene would have changed if he had waited just one second longer. Legally speaking, he hasn’t broken any laws. Nobody else has the authority to play advantage; only the referee does.”

Pundits Micah Richards and Roy Keane of Sky Sports criticized the referee for his ruling.

“The evidence is there for all to see, he should have let play go on,” Richards stated. “The fourth official’s knowledge of the referee’s error is evident on his face. How would you describe it?”

“The referee has made a mistake,” Keane continued. He’s made a terrible decision.

“Grealish scored the goal, and he deserves praise for using advantage. However, he made the incorrect choice in deciding to bring it back. That is evident to all of us.”

Silva: The referee made a “very bad” call, but the game should have been ended.

Although Bernardo Silva believes Manchester City lost against Tottenham due to a “very, very bad” judgment, he also acknowledges that the club must improve on its own performance.

The midfielder from Portugal stated, “Everyone saw that it was a bad decision.” But in the end, we’re all just people.

“Grealish had a one-on-one opportunity with the keeper, and the referee was probably the first to see that it was a very, very horrible mistake that could have won us three points.

“It is a tough one to take, but in the end it is what it is, it’s football, and sometimes people make mistakes.”
