Manchester City determined to sign Jamal Musiala
Manchester City are reportedly “ready to do anything” to land the services of Bayern Munich phenom Jamal Musiala in the next summer transfer window.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester City are “dreaming of a top-level” acquisition next summer, and the player high on their agenda is Bayern Munich starlet Jamal Musiala.
Manchester City have yet to sign anyone during the January transfer window, with their focus instead being on getting a couple of unwanted players out of the squad. Goalkeeper Zack Steffen has returned to the United States by joining the Colorado Rapids for an undisclosed fee.
Central midfielder Kalvin Phillips—another player who has been cast aside by Pep Guardiola—could soon follow him out of the Etihad amid fresh links with Newcastle United and Tottenham.
The Citizens’ rarely splash the cash in the midseason transfer window, and with the Premier League title race looking tighter than ever this season, it is unlikely that City would hit the panic button. At a stretch, they could look to add future prospects like River Plate’s Claudio Echeverri to their ranks, but no major piece of incoming business is expected at the Etihad.
The summer window is when the Sky Blues’ emerge as one of the biggest movers in the market, and next summer they could decide to launch a move for Bayern’s precocious talent, Jamal Musiala, as they look to add a world-class player to their squad ahead of the 2024/2025 season amid growing speculation surrounding the long-term future of the German international in Bavaria.
The German has emerged as one of Europe’s best talents, having established himself as a key part of the Bayern side over the last few years. During his time with the Bayern first team, Musiala has scored 38 goals and contributed 26 assists in 144 competitive appearances.
Musiala is clearly adored in Munich, but a move to Manchester City and the chance to learn from arguably the best innovators of the modern game under Pep Guardiola would be a significant step up from the German giants.
Reports have previously stated that the Catalan boss considers Musiala the “best” number 10 in the world and has identified the midfielder as the natural successor to Kevin De Bruyne at the Etihad Stadium.
The 20-year-old is contracted at the Allianz Arena until 2026, but the Sky Blues are claimed to be “ready to do anything” in the coming months to secure the services of the generational talent.
Despite Manchester City’s abundant riches, it would still take a huge offer to make Bayern Munich even think about selling Musiala, so Manchester City have a long way to go in this saga.
In addition to Man City, Spanish giants Real Madrid are also monitoring the player’s situation at the German champions, and view him as an alternative option to PSG star Kylian Mbappe.
