Transfer News: Manchester City Star Join EPL Rivals
West Ham United has successfully negotiated a deal to bring in Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City. The English midfielder is set to join the London club for the remainder of the season, with ongoing discussions about a potential permanent transfer.
According to David Ornstein from The Athletic, Juventus has expressed interest in Phillips, though an agreement is yet to be reached. The Hammers, however, have sealed terms with the midfielder and will cover his full salary during the loan period.
Phillips is scheduled to undergo a medical with West Ham on Thursday. Despite Manchester City’s £45 million investment in signing him from Leeds United in 2022, the midfielder has struggled to secure a spot in the starting XI, often finding himself on the bench.
Crystal Palace, led by manager Roy Hodgson, has confirmed their interest in acquiring Kalvin Phillips. Hodgson expressed optimism about the potential transfer, emphasizing that if the financial aspects align, Phillips would be a valuable addition. talkSPORT also reported interest from Tottenham and Newcastle United in the Manchester City midfielder.

Manchester City cashed in on academy player Carlos Borges in the summer – but the winger could now be making a swift return to England.
Borges was once one of the highest-rated talents within the whole City Football Group and last season, he finished as the top goalscorer in the PL2 with 21 goals in 24 matches. His overall record in the City youth academy read 55 goals and 42 assists in 79 appearances.
Some fans wondered if Borges might get a chance within the first-team after such an exciting season.
But the youngster would never get that chance.
After it had looked like he would join West Ham United, Borges joined Dutch giants Ajax in a £17 million transfer deal – but the youngster could already be set to return to England…

It was reported by Fabrizio Romano last night that Nottingham Forest have now made a move for Borges.

The Reds want to sign the youngster on loan for the rest of the season, with Romano saying on X: “Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign Carlos Borges from Ajax on loan deal. Negotiations on, Ajax have been approached by #NFFC to bring Carlos back to Premier League. Forest want both Borges and Gio Reyna.
It has not been a particularly fruitful spell for Borges over in the Netherlands so far.
He has made 25 appearances across all competitions, but scored just two goals and made four assists. Just recently, Borges has been struggling for league starts, starting just one of Ajax’s last nine.
It would be very interesting to see Borges in the Premier League
It will be really interesting to see if Forest can seal a loan deal for Borges in the coming days.
It hasn’t worked out for him so far at Ajax, who are seemingly comfortable letting him leave on a temporary basis so he can find form.
Borges is a player with serious potential. City EDS boss Brian Barry-Murphy described him as an ‘exceptional’ talent back October 2022.
If he does move to the City Ground then it will be fascinating to see how he gets on, because the Premier League is a higher standard than the Eredivisie and Borges has never played in the competition before.
