Man City fans furious with how the club were describes during FA Cup draw

Manchester City fans have taken a massive issue with the club’s description during Sunday’s FA Cup fifth-round draw.

City defeated Tottenham Hotspur on Friday evening to book their place in the next round.

Nathan Ake’s goal in the 88th minute was enough to give Pep Guardiola’s side their first win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

They’ll now face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road the week commencing Monday 26 February.

During the official draw livestream, the host added some extra context to the teams and their position in the league.

As Glen Johnson pulled City’s number out, they were announced as “second in the Premier League and five-time semi-finalists in the last five years.”

City are the current FA Cup holders after defeating bitter rivals Manchester United 2-1 in the final in June.

A week later, City defeated Inter Milan to win the Champions League and complete a historic treble, having clinched the Premier League title in May.

The clip has gone viral and seen City supporters claim there is an ‘agenda’ against them.

Not “FA Cup holders Manchester City” or Treble winners or Champions of Europe & the World…. we’re “2nd in the PL and 5 time semi finalists in the last 5 years”

One person said: “Can’t even bring themselves to call us the holders.”

A second put: “It’s easier to say ‘current holders’ than any other thing.”

Someone added: “I can feel the bitterness.”

While a fourth posted: “I’m not even a City fan and think this is bang out of order.”

City had failed to score in their five previous visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Guardiola praised their performance in his post-match interview.

“Deserved it? I think so but football is about scoring, not conceding and the statistics were really good today,” he explained.

“If you see the stats from the past when we come here, we could not score and could not win.

“Yeah, we are really pleased of course to win against this team away, score a goal and go through. We defend the title and the way we play, we proved we defend it really well.

“Unbelievable. The performance was top, top class. These players prove again the reason why they have done what they have done in the past.”
