Liverpool FC mourns passing of Conor Bradley’s father

Liverpool FC is deeply saddened by the death of Conor Bradley’s father, Joe, today.

The thoughts of everybody at the club are with Conor and all of the Bradley family at this very difficult and sad time.

On behalf of Conor, LFC strongly urges that the family’s privacy is fully respected at this time.

David Datro Fofana has shown Chelsea exactly what they are missing by scoring twice on his Burnley home debut to rescue a draw against Fulham.

The 21-year-old came off the bench at Turf Moor with the Clarets 2-0 down to earn Vincent Kompany’s men a precious point.

It was his second appearance since joining on loan from the Blues last month after his short spell in Germany at Union Berlin was cut short.

And he has quickly made his presence known, with the three-cap Ivory Coast international already proving to be a huge hit with the Burnley faithful.

His opening goal against the Cottagers in the 71st minute was gifted to him with Bernd Leno in no man’s land, allowing the forward to head home into an empty.

He then showed a great striker’s instinct in the first minute of stoppage time to get on the end of Wilson Odobert’s low cross to divert into the back of the net.

It was the exactly the sort of run – and finish – that Chelsea have been missing this season, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side struggling in front of goal.

And the Blues faithful quickly took to social media where they all said the same thing in reference to Fofana’s double.

Taking to X, one user said: “Why did we loan out Datro Fofana.”

Another messaged: “David Datro Fofana already has two goals on his debut for Burnley today while Chelsea are struggling in front of goal without a proper 9…. I’m tired man.”

A third added: “Why is our best striker on loan at Burnley. We’re in the mud.”

And one supporter messaged: “Recall Datro Fofana he’s our best striker at the club.”

This supporter posted: “How Datro Fofana never really got a chance at Chelsea still baffles me.”

Meanwhile another stated: “We were in need of a striker and decided to loan out David Datro Fofana.”

Fofana’s double follows on from the assist he got at the Etihad midweek in Burnley’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester City.

Chris Sutton has shared one eye-catching thing he noticed about Manchester City striker Erling Haaland during his cameo against Burnley in midweek.

After spending a number of weeks out of action with an ankle injury, the 23-year-old made his return on Wednesday during the second half of City’s 3-1 win over Burnley at the Etihad Stadium.

Even though the Norwegian was only on the pitch for 20 minutes, this hasn’t stopped one pundit from sharing his thoughts on the centre-forward’s efforts.

Writing in his weekly column for BBC Sport where he previewed all of the weekend’s Premier League fixtures, Sutton had this to say about Haaland’s second-half appearance against Burnley on Wednesday.

He said: “City have got Haaland back from injury and even though he had his boots on the wrong feet against Burnley on Wednesday, it is just a matter of time before he is back among the goals.

“He reminded me a bit of my time at Chelsea, when I was like Bambi on ice in front of goal, but once he is back up to speed it is going to be a very different story.”

With 19 minutes under his belt against the Clarets, Haaland had eight touches of the ball in total and had two attempts at goal, one of which was blocked and the other off target.

The Manchester Evening News also picked up on how rusty the striker looked on his return to action by saying in their player ratings article after the game that he “looked hungry for a goal even if not that sharp.”

Taking into account how Haaland hadn’t played in a competitive game since early December, it’s only natural that he wouldn’t be at his best straight away.

However, if he can avoid any more injury issues for the rest of the season and start doing what he does best and score goals, he’ll give his side a great boost to their chances of regaining the Premier League title.
