Sources: Manchester City think 19-year-old is ready for first-team as terms agreed

Manchester City have agreed a deal to bring in Savio after his stunning spell at La Liga challengers Girona with the winger expected to form part of Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad next season.

HITC Football understands that Savio, who is Troyes’ record signing and currently plies his trade on loan at Girona, will be afforded the opportunity to prove he can make the step up at the City Football Group’s marquee institution in 2024/25.

Manchester City have agreed terms to bring Savio to the Etihad Stadium. The skilful Brazilian is viewed by City as being a player ready for first-team action too, meaning he could be tasked with challenging Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish and co for a spot in Pep Guardiola’s plans in the coming months.

Manchester City agree to bring in Girona loanee Savio

Still only 19, Savio has been one of the most exciting attackers in Spain’s top flight this term. He’s scored seven goals and set up seven more for a Girona side challenging Real Madrid at the top of the table, his searing pace and his impressive end-product drawing comparisons with Los Blancos’ own Vinicius Junior.

“The sporting management had been following ‘Savinho’ since the last Under-20 World Cup. We had excellent opitions (of him), despite him having just come back from a season without enchanting at PSV Eindhoven,” explains Girona coach Michel, Savio thriving in Spain after struggling in the Netherlands.

“We had the feeling that he could be the right player for us. I’ll say one big thing; since Vinicius’ arrival in Spain, I haven’t seen such a great one-on-one talent like him.”

City set to pay up for Savio

According to reports, Manchester City could stump up near £26 million for Savio. He has not made a single appearance for Troyes since arriving in France from Atletico Mineiro, and The Telegraph believe that City will have to prove the fee represents ‘fair market value’ before Savio can officially join Guardiola’s star-studded ranks.

Interestingly, Savio confirmed that Arsenal – City’s title rivals – had tried to sign him when the Brazil under-19 international was still back in South America.
