‘I hate it.. Man City star Manuel Akanji shares one thing he absolutely can’t stand in football
Three of Manchester City’s biggest stars have revealed their biggest dislikes in football – with some more serious than others.
City have enjoyed incredible success since Pep Guardiola took charge of the club eight years ago in 2016 and last season they even completed an historic treble as they won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League for the very first time.
But with even so much joyous victory, football still comes with its pet peeves and annoyances as Manuel Akanji, Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker have shared.

Speaking to 11teamsports on TikTok, Walker was the first to reveal his biggest ick. He said: “My football ick is people playing up to crowds.”
Grealish then chimed in by saying: “Long throw-ins into the box.”

Then things got serious when Akanji was asked, as he went in depth with his answer, clearly getting some annoyance off his chest.
“I don’t like it when footballers act tough on the pitch and they’re not tough at all,” he said. “I hate it because they can do everything on the pitch but outside of the pitch they won’t do that.”
It’s already cost City this season
Akanji has a right to be annoyed with such players, especially as it has already been costly for City this season.
In the 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in September, Rodri came into an altercation with Morgan Gibbs-White in the corner of the pitch.
The Spaniard was attempting to shepherd the ball out of play but turned his attention to the Forest playmaker after he felt he went in too hard with a shove to the back.
Rodri turned to confront Gibbs-White and the pair stood eye to eye as a shoving match began. Gibbs-White had no problem squaring up with his opponent but as soon as he was shoved he dived to the floor holding his face.
The red card was predictably brandished and Rodri went on to miss three games for violent conduct. City lost all three of those matches, including the only two defeats they have suffered in the Premier League all season to Arsenal and Wolves.
Perhaps that’s exactly where Akanji’s biggest ick has sprouted from.
