Four Academy names upgraded into Manchester City first – team training action

New photos reveal that four fresh names from Manchester City’s academy system participated in the post-Brentford training session.

After securing three points in their latest Premier League action, Manchester City capitalized on Liverpool’s defeat to Arsenal and moved within just two points of Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Phil Foden’s hat-trick ensured that the team maintained their winning streak since their FIFA Club World Cup success.

The latest training photos confirmed that Academy starlets Ashton Muir, Divine Mukasa, Dan Batty, and Charlie Gray all trained with the first team.

Each of these new names gained highly valuable experiences alongside Manchester City’s history-making, Treble-winning squad.

Ashton Muir, a forward born in 2005 and raised in Manchester, signed his scholarship with Manchester City in July 2022 after being a part of the club’s Academy program since the age of eight. He is known as a “clever, progressive player, capable out-wide as well as in central areas”.

The ongoing season saw Muir progress into the Under-18s squad, making 20 appearances, scoring four goals, and providing seven assists.

Divine Mukasa, a midfielder born in London, joined Manchester City in September 2023 after being developed through West Ham’s Academy.

His potential was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano in a tweet in which he stated that Manchester City was poised to sign the talented England U17 midfielder.

Mukasa is described as a player that “thrives in tight spaces and is well capable of scoring and assisting goals” from his midfield position.

Dan Batty, a creative attacking midfielder born in Stalybridge in 2006, joined Manchester City’s Under-18s for the ongoing season. He is noted for his strong ability to create chances on a regular basis.

Completing the rise of Academy midfield talents into the first-team set-up is Charlie Gray, who joined Manchester City as an eight-year-old and progressed to become a scholar.

Gray is known for his “calming presence” in the center of the park and an “excellent range of passing”. He has tested himself at Under-18s level and has returned to the squad for the ongoing campaign.
