‘Pulled me over’… Rio Ferdinand shares what one fan told him about Kevin De Bruyne at Man City vs Everton
Rio Ferdinand has revealed that a fan came to watch Kevin De Bruyne in the flesh ahead of Manchester City’s 2-0 win against Everton.
Interestingly, Ferdinand shared that the supporter in question was not even a Manchester City fan on FIVE’s official YouTube channel.
If that is not an indicator of the superstar that Kevin De Bruyne is, then what is?

Perhaps the fan in question would have been gutted to see Pep Guardiola bench the midfield maestro.
However, he must have been delighted to have witnessed De Bruyne eventually come on as a substitute and play a crucial role in City’s latest victory against Everton.
Rio Ferdinand gave an insight into his interaction with the fan, who seems to be a huge admirer of Kevin De Bruyne ahead of Manchester City’s previous clash against the Toffees.

“One thing I would say though, they’re getting a bigger fanbase because I was there [at the Etihad Stadium], the geezer pulled me over and he said, ‘Rio!’ Come over and I said, ‘Are you alright?’ Took a picture and he said, ‘I don’t even support City.’ I said, ‘What are you here for then?’ He went, ‘Just come to see Kevin De Bruyne.’ That’s what’s going on over there, whether that’s good or bad.”
“It’s like they’ve got players that are bringing in a different fanbase.”
Natural to see players like Kevin De Bruyne attract such an audience
As Rio Ferdinand pinpointed, Manchester City have players such as Kevin De Bruyne who are attracting more eyes to them.
The 32-year-old is arguably the best player in the world and is playing in the most-watched league on the planet.
Similarly, Erling Haaland is a global name and is set to become one of, if not the biggest megastar football has seen since Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Phil Foden is another future superstar and is one of England’s best players, with the appeal about him being his glorious talent as well as the fact that he is a Manchester City academy product.
When one club has a whole host of such players, it is only natural that fans across the world will flock to the Etihad Stadium to watch them in action.
