Pep Guardiola says what job he wants after his time at Man City ends

Pep Guardiola has made it clear he has ambitions of taking on other managerial posts when his time at Manchester City ends.

Pep Guardiola took charge of Manchester City in 2016 and has surprised many by still being at the helm eight years later.

Yes, the club is finely attuned to ensure he can achieve success but Guardiola had previously never spent longer than four seasons in a job.

The 53-year-old took charge of Barcelona for four years between 2008-2012 then took a year off before taking charge of Bayern Munich for three seasons in 2013.

Guardiola has enjoyed immense success at City, already winning five Premier League titles and the club’s first Champions League last season.

However, he has revealed he won’t be City’s manager forever as he does have ambitions to enter into international management.

Guardiola told ESPN Brasil: “A national team. I would like to train a national team for a World Cup or a European Championship. I would like that.

“I don’t know who would want me! To work for a national team they have to want you, just like a club.”

“I would like to have the experience of living through a World Cup, or a Euro or a Copa America, or whatever it is. I would like that.

“I don’t know when that would be, if that is five, 10, 15 years from now but I would like to have the experience of being a manager in a World Cup.”

It won’t be for a while yet
There’s no need to worry just yet, though, as Guardiola likely won’t be jetting off to manage a country any time soon.

The Catalonian is contracted to City until 2025 so won’t be leaving until the end of next season at the earliest and he may yet be tempted to stay even longer.

City will be keeping everything crossed that he does, as replacing a manager who has such a strong presence at a club can be a daunting task.

Manchester United have still not recovered fully after Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure over a decade ago and Liverpool face the same problem this summer when Jurgen Klopp departs.

It would be interesting to see if Guardiola’s intense and complex methods can translate to the international stage, though. Could you imagine him as England manager?

Manchester City have returned to winning ways as they claimed a home win over Brentford today. Unlike last season, Manchester City has now claimed double victories over Brentford this season. Meanwhile, Haaland should have been sent off before scoring the winning goal.

Manchester City players showed great hunger for goals today as they created several chances in the first half but were unlucky in front of goal. They succeeded in taking the lead in the second half as Haaland scored the winning goal.

Manchester City had a disallowed goal and they maintained their lone goal to the end of the game. Pẹp Guardiola will be pleased with their performance today.

However, Erling Braut-Haaland should have been sent off in the second half because of his elbow on Ben Mee in Brentford’s 18-yard box in the 64th minute. Haaland’s elbow brought down the defender and that should have resulted in the striker’s red card but he was pardoned by the Referee.

Haaland is a great player but he needs to be patient when dealing with the opposition players.

Do you think Haaland should have been sent off?
