Manchester City youngster Oscar Bobb is signing a new contract with the club – and a journalist has now shared details of the deal that’s on the table.

Bobb, 20, has been a breath of fresh air this season for City following his promotion to the first-team by Pep Guardiola, on the advice of sporting director Txiki Begiristain.

The Norwegian youngster has made 16 appearances so far, and has impressed several times during cameo performances.

He was fantastic on his first start for the club against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup earlier in the season, and he’s also had fine showings against the likes of Newcastle in the Premier League, and Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

Bobb has the potential to be special – and City are set to hand him a contract that reflects that…

MORE MAN CITY STORIES

Bobb is currently one of the lowest earners at City, which is obviously no surprise given he’s only just come into the first-team squad from the academy.

But City chiefs now feel the time is right to bump up his wages – and it looks like it’ll be a pretty handsome payday for starlet.

Norwegian journalist Arilas Ould-Saada of TV2 Sport has reported this morning that Bobb is in line to have his wages tripled by City as a reward for his great performances and development.

He is set to take home £50,000 per week, and there is also word on the length of this new contract. Apparently, he’ll sign on until 2029 which is a big show of faith from the club if true.

Presumably, there will be opportunities for Bobb to earn more than his base £50,000-a-week in performance-related bonuses.

A deserved reward

So Bobb will reportedly triple his wages and that’s a lovely reward, for a player who looks like he could become a genuinely world-class player later in his career.

It’s still a relatively small sample size, but you can clearly see with Bobb that he is going to develop into an amazing player and possibly enjoy a similar rise to Phil Foden.

Just as Foden did when he was starting out, Bobb spends so much time playing with world-class players and is obviously taking orders from an incredible manager – it just seems like he is destined to be special. When you’ve got Bernardo Silva calling you ‘a big talent’, then you’re definitely a top prospect.

Guardiola has regularly raved about Bobb this season. About how good he is between the lines and in the pockets, and what a brilliant technician he is. Indeed, Nathan Ake also recently branded him ‘unbelievable’ in terms of his technical quality.

Hopefully, he can continue to work hard, learn and realise his enormous potential at the Etihad Stadium –clearly, the club feel as though he can.
