EPL Table; after sunday’s result, foden and Halaand combine for a new record against Man Utd

Burnley 0-2 Bournemouth

As Bournemouth triumphed in the Premier League for the first time in 2024, Burnley’s slender chances of staying up took yet another blow.

Poor defending allowed Justin Kluivert to put the Cherries ahead with a strong finish beyond James Trafford.

Man City 3-1 Man United

Manchester City defeated Manchester United at Etihad Stadium, rallying from behind thanks to two goals from Phil Foden in the second half to secure the Blues’ victory in the Manchester derby.

Marcus Rashford’s incredible 30-yard goal in the eighth minute gave the visitors the lead.

Foden, however, grabbed center stage in a match that City controlled.

Over his equalizer in the second half, there was some debate. After Kyle Walker’s challenge on Rashford resulted in a foul, United manager Erik ten Hag was booked for claiming his team should have been awarded a free kick in the City half.

With little to no contact, Foden curled a fantastic shot past Andre Onana in a matter of seconds.

After that, Foden scored City’s second goal after a return pass from Julian Alvarez, outpacing a stationary Casemiro, and Erling Haaland completed the scoring.

According to Opta, since the start of last season, the most goals scored by a player against a specific opponent in the Premier League have been against Manchester United. Haaland and Foden are the two players with the record.
