Manchester City are growing more and more confident of signing Jamal Musiala in the summer, according to reports. Liverpool and Chelsea are also keen on recruiting the Bayern Munich attacking midfielder but could be outmanoeuvred by the Premier League champions.

The Daily Star claims Musiala has rejected the offer of a new contract at the Allianz Arena. And that will inevitably spark a rise in speculation that Musiala is thinking of a move elsewhere.
It is claimed City and Liverpool are among the clubs hunting to prise Musiala out of Bayern this summer. They both had scouts watching the Bavarians’ Bundesliga defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last month.
Bayern had tabled a £150,000-a-week offer of an extension for the 21-year-old who is tied down until June 2026. The 25-cap Germany international is a key player for Die Roten and has produced nine goals and four assists in 28 outings this season.
But Manchester City were reportedly informed last week of Musiala’s decision not to sign a new contract. That’s despite the former Chelsea academy talent having already racked up over 150 appearances for Bayern.

City are said to be increasingly confident of signing the midfielder but Liverpool are also admirers. Chelsea also have interest but may need to qualify for Europe to stand any realistic chance of a deal.
Musiala is expected to cost a minimum of £80million while could command wages of around £200,000 a week or more. He is currently thought to earn around £90,000 per week for Bayern.
The German has already teased the possibility of a move to the Premier League. He said last year: “The Premier League is the strongest and most attractive league in the world at the moment, but I feel comfortable here and am focused on being successful with Bayern. But you never know what will happen in a few years.”
Musiala quit Chelsea as a 16-year-old to head to the Bundesliga and admitted in 2022: “All I know is that I really enjoyed my time in England. [But] I play for FC Bayern, one of the best clubs in the world, and I really enjoy it. Our team is really strong and we still have a lot to do.

“I’m very happy at Bayern. I live in the here and now and enjoy the moment and am very happy right now.” Yet that stance may now have changed after he rejected Bayern;’s contract offer.
It remains to be seen if the reigning German champions can tempt the youngster, who swapped England for Germany after playing for the Three Lions’ under-21s, into changing his mind with a more enticing offer financially.
Much may depend on who is the manager at Anfield in their pursuit of Musiala. Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is a target and his style of play would certainly seem to suit the player, though the lure of a more settled longer term project under Pep Guardiola at City could prove key.
