Two Man City players should be worried if Jamal Musiala joins this summer

Two Manchester City players should be a little concerned over the growing speculation the club could sign Jamal Musiala in the summer.

The transfer window is still several months and many crucial games of football away but speculation is already building on who Manchester City may look to recruit.

Plenty of players have already been linked and there will be many more to come but the most exciting name so far is Jamal Musiala.

The Bayern Munich playmaker is only 21 but has already developed into one of the game’s most talented players.

However, Bayern are reportedly at risk of losing him in the summer transfer window.

The German giants are understandably desperate to keep hold of their star asset and are trying to tie him down to a new long-term contract, with his current deal set to expire in 2026.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, however, Musiala has told his club he will not be signing the £150,000-a-week offer.

It’s added that City are aware of Musiala’s position and are ‘increasingly confident’ of beating out the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool for his signature.

A concern for two City players

Musiala would be a sensational signing for City. The German international is dazzling with his feet, is clinical in attack and would fit into the team so well.

He’s already immensely talented and that’s before Pep Guardiola has had the chance to coach him.

With Kevin De Bruyne now 32 and injuries beginning to take their toll, it’s time City put a succession plan in place for the brilliant Belgian. There can’t be many better than Musiala.

However, one who might actually be better is Phil Foden.

City’s local hero has stepped up his game massively this season, especially when De Bruyne missed the first half of the campaign.

Foden has always coveted a central position and has flourished with increased opportunities there this season but he still hasn’t got the spot locked down.

Though Foden and Musiala together in the middle is a tantalising prospect, the latter’s arrival probably means more time out wide for the ‘Stockport Iniesta’.

If it’s bad news for Foden’s midfield aspirations then it’s even worse for Oscar Bobb.

The youngster has broken into the first team this season and impressed so much that he’s already earned a new contract until 2029.

Yet, like Foden before him, he is learning his trade in Guardiola’s side on the flank despite being a naturally central player.

If Musiala does come in then he may well be waiting until 2029 before getting a shot in City’s midfield.

Musiala would be a great addition but it might come with some negatives.
