After Manchester City’s convincing 4-nil victory against Brighton last night, they now have five more games to go. In the race for the Premier League title this season, Pep Guardiola’s team is still in control of their own fate. If they win their final five games, they will win the league for the fourth time in a row.
Although Manchester City was the favorite to defeat Brighton at the Amex Stadium due to injuries, the strain of the title battle this season means that any outcome is important. With their 5–0 victory over Chelsea, Arsenal has maintained its lead in the Premier League, while Liverpool has slowed down after suffering a shocking 2–0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park. It was against this backdrop where Manchester City needed to make a mark against Brighton. They did so in emphatic fashion at the Amex Stadium overnight.

Pep Guardiola’s side made their statement in the title race with an emphatic victory. Goals from Kevin De Bruyne, a brace from Phil Foden and another from Julian Alvarez, sealed a crucial win for Manchester City over Brighton. While the 4-nil scoreline reflected City’s dominance, the performance from the champions was one of their best of the season.
The world champions dominated the Seagulls to send a message to their title rivals. City is clicking into gear at the penultimate stage of the season. It was a case of one win down and five more to go to win a fourth consecutive Premier League title for Pep Guardiola’s team.

Speaking post game Pep Guardiola said the pressure of this season’s title race is inspiring his team. The City manager knows if they don’t get points in their remaining five games, their title hopes may fade away. Guardiola told the media post game: “We know if we don’t win or draw, there won’t be chance to fight until the end. Of course, the pressure is there. Otherwise, we can’t perform like that. Five games left, onto the next one, that all I can say.”

Guardiola also cautioned that what happened to Liverpool could also happen to his side. With Nottingham Forest fighting for their Premier League survival, they will provide a stern test for Manchester City on Sunday. Guardiola added: “We have five games left – tough ones like Forest and what they’re playing for. What happened to Liverpool can happen to us and Arsenal.”

Fortunately, Amorim seems to be a very cool, calm and collected fella and his tactics are also extremely impressive.
Even better, many of the players he has managed have nothing but good things to say about him, including Spurs fullback Pedro Porro, who told O Jogo all about his former boss.
He said: “Everyone knows what a good coach he is, he does things very well, he’s a great coach.

It was a scintillating display from City, with Jeremy Doku the star of the show as Guardiola made six changes from the side that drew 3-3 away to Real Madrid in midweek.
For Luton Town and their boss Rob Edwards, he was simply glad to reach the final whistle.
‘Today was the hardest game we’ve had all season,’ he said.
‘It felt like they were in our final third all season. We couldn’t get out and they were excellent.
‘Today was always going to be very difficult. I’d almost made peace with it at the beginning.

‘I’m proud of the lads. I wiped it as soon as I went into the changing room. Let’s be realistic, they are a brilliant football team who are way ahead of us at the moment.

‘They suffocated us and controlled the game, it was a long day for us.’
City now have one eye on tomorrow’s games as Arsenal host Aston Villa and Liverpool welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield, both with the chance of leapfrogging City.
