Ohio State Buckeyes Land New RB in Transfer Portal

Ohio State Buckeyes Land New RB in Transfer Portal

The Ohio State Buckeyes have landed a new running back in the NCAA transfer portal.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been looking at a major need at the running back position for next season.

With both TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins set to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, Ohio State was left with James Peoples as the only proven running back on the roster. Peoples also hasn’t been proven in big games against elite schools.

Ryan Day and his staff were able to take a big step towards fixing that potential hole on Monday.

According to a report from Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts, the Buckeyes have landed a transfer portal commitment from West Virginia running back CJ Donaldson Jr.

It had been previously reported that Donaldson had been in Columbus for a visit. Now, Ohio State has been able to bring him onboard for the 2025 season.

Donaldson could end up being a major pickup for the Buckeyes. He has been a very solid back for West Virginia and will have a chance to compete for the Ohio State starting job in 2025.

During the 2024 college football season with the Mountaineers, Donaldson ended up carrying the football 163 times for 734 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2023, he racked up 171 carries for 798 yards and 11 touchdowns.

He may not be a “star” running back, but no one can knock his consistency.

Standing in at 6-foot-2 and 238 pounds, Donaldson was actually a tight end when he originally entered the college football world. He made the switch to running back and that has paid off for him in a big way.

Being able to compete for a starting job with a team like the Buckeyes is likely a dream come true for him.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what Donaldson is able to end up bringing to Ohio State. He has the talent to be a key piece of the Buckeyes’ offense next season and his game could take a big leap forward playing within a much more talented program.

NFL QB Raises Concerns on Connection With Former Ohio State Star

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has voiced his concerns on his connection with this former Ohio State Buckeyes star.

When Marvin Harrison Jr. departed the Ohio State Buckeyes last year, there were massive expectations for the wide receiver heading into the NFL Draft.

Harrison was labeled by many as a can’t-miss prospect, and not surprisingly, he ended up being the first wide out off the board last April as the Arizona Cardinals selected him fourth overall.

However, Harrison’s rookie campaign has not exactly been smooth sailing.

The 22-year-old has caught 51 passes for 726 yards and seven touchdowns, and while those certainly aren’t bad numbers, Harrison hasn’t had any particularly dominant stretches and only owns a catch rate of 51 percent.

This has raised some concerns from Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, who thinks that there needs to be better synergy between the two players.

“We’ve got to get better, we’ve got to get better,” Murray said, via Arizona’s YouTube account. “It’s not where he wants it to be, it’s not where I want it to be. It’s not where the team needs it to be. Again, I haven’t lost any confidence. I’m excited for these next two weeks.”

Murray added that he and Harrison have “no choice” to get things right “in order for our offense to be what we want it to be.”

Most of the Cardinals’ aerial attack has run through tight end Trey McBride, who has hauled in 92 receptions for 958 yards.

Harrison registered back-to-back 1,200-yard campaigns during his final two seasons at Ohio State, so we know he has the talent to produce.

We’ll see if he can end 2024 on a high note.

Former Ohio State Buckeyes HC Drops Bold College Football Playoff Take

Former Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer revealed his bold thoughts on the College Football Playoff.

Former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer walks by the end zone during the first half between Michigan and Ohio State at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023.

The Ohio State Buckeyes’ fan base still loves former head coach Urban Meyer. While he is comfortable in his broadcasting job and has been very clear that he does not have interest in returning to the sidelines, his voice is still very well respected.

All year long, Meyer has talked about Ohio State and the rest of the college football world.

Once again, following the first round of the College Football Playoff, Meyer spoke out with a very bold take. He thinks that the College Football Playoff will change in the future following this season.

Basically, he thinks that the selection committee will need to see teams play good competition in order to get in.

“I think the reality is that there are two things that I witnessed. No. 1 is the College Football Playoff, I think, is forever changed now. And that means if you don’t play anyone you’re not going to get in,” Meyer said.

A great example of why that change would be made is the Indiana Hoosiers. They were put into the playoff over teams like Alabama , Miami, and Ole Miss. However, Indiana had not played anyone good all season long outside of the Buckeyes and that is a game that they suffered a blowout loss.

While the Hoosiers went 11-1 in the regular season, they clearly did not belong in the playoff. They were absolutely dismantled by Notre Dame.

Moving forward, the selection committee will likely focus on making sure the best teams, not the best records, make it into the playoff field.

Honestly, that needs to be a change that is made. Seeing teams get blown out and dismantled in the playoff is not a good look for college football.

Of course, either way someone is going to be angry. They will never be able to get it perfect.

That being said, the most talented teams deserve to get into the playoff. Hopefully, the NCAA does it better next time around.

NFL Draft Expert Reveals Massive Claim About Ohio State Buckeyes WR

An NFL Draft expert spoke out with a massive claim about an Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver.

Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (4) celebrates a touchdown catch during the second half of the College Football Playoff first round game against the Tennessee Volunteers at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Dec. 22, 2024. Ohio State won 42-17.

The Ohio State Buckeyes were expecting a big season from freshman star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, but what he has actually done has exceeded those expectations.

Smith has instantly become an elite wide receiver. In fact, there are some who believe that he’s the most talented wide receiver in the entire nation.

So far this season following Ohio State’s dominant win over the Tennessee Volunteers in the first game of the College Football Playoff, Smith has caught 63 passes for 1,037 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has continued playing at an elite level regardless of what level of team he has played against.

Now, the Buckeyes will be needing a huge game from him in their rematch against the Oregon Ducks on New Year’s Day.

Among the biggest supporters of Smith is former NFL Draft expert Todd McShay. He spoke out with a massive claim about the Ohio State freshman.

In a post on social media, McShay claimed that if Smith were eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft, he would be the No. 1 overall pick.

“If eligible in April, he would be the first WR taken No. 1 overall in the draft since Keyshawn Johnson in 1996. But we’ll have to wait until 2027.”

Honestly, McShay is probably right. Smith still has a ton of room to grow and is already looking like arguably the best wideout in the country.

Once again, the Buckeyes have struck gold at the wide receiver position. Smith is just the latest in a long line of star wideouts to head off to the NFL from Ohio State.

Among that list are Marvin Harrison Jr., Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Chris Olave, Terry McLaurin, and many more. Smith will join them before too long.

Thankfully, the Buckeyes have another couple of years with Smith. As long as he’s on the team, the offense is going to be lethal. They have two young quarterbacks who have star potential as well in Julian Sayin and Tavien St. Clair.

All of that being said, Smith has taken the college football world by storm. McShay’s strong take about him just adds onto what has already been an amazing season for the young wideout.
