At the NFL Scouting Combine on February 26, 2025, Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham made a candid admission regarding the Ohio State Buckeyes’ performance in the 2024 season.
Despite Michigan’s 13-10 victory over Ohio State on November 30, 2024, Graham acknowledged he believed the Buckeyes had the potential to secure the national championship. He stated, “I knew they were probably one of the better teams. It hurts me to say that, but I knew they were one of the better teams and had a shot if they got in there.”
Following their loss to Michigan, Ohio State rebounded impressively in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes defeated Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame to claim their ninth national championship on January 20, 2025.
Reflecting on Michigan’s approach to the rivalry game, Graham noted, “We knew we were the underdogs, but in our minds, we can play with any team. Obviously, we didn’t have the year we wanted, but every time we play those guys, we’re going to bring our A-game.”
Throughout his tenure at Michigan, Graham maintained a perfect 3-0 record against Ohio State, contributing significantly to the Wolverines’ defensive efforts. He highlighted his performance in the 2024 matchup as a testament to his abilities, suggesting that NFL scouts should review the film from that game. Graham stated, “I feel like just roll on that Ohio State film. That’s all you need to see, really.”
Graham’s remarks underscore the deep-seated rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State, as well as the mutual respect players have for each other’s capabilities on the
field.
