
BRAIN BURSTED NEWS: AS The University of Tennessee’s Pride of the Southland Marching Band has announced its upcoming “Member for a Day” event, scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025.
This initiative offers high school students a unique opportunity to experience collegiate band life firsthand by participating alongside current band members during the annual Orange and White Game.
Event Details:
Eligibility: Open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Preference is given to seniors planning to attend the University of Tennessee in the fall.
Participation: The event welcomes woodwind, brass, color guard, majorette, and percussion students (snare, tenors, basses, cymbals; note: front ensemble is excluded).
Registration: Limited to the first 350 students. A non-refundable fee of $40 covers a T-shirt, music, box lunch, and admission to the Orange & White Game. The registration deadline is April 1, 2025, or until capacity is reached.
Schedule Highlights:
Morning: Registration at the Natalie L. Haslam Music Center, followed by a meeting in Powell Auditorium.
Midday: Music rehearsal with the Pride of the Southland Marching Band at the band practice field, accompanied by lunch with current band members.
Afternoon: Procession to Neyland Stadium to perform during the Orange & White Game.
Additional Information:
Attire: Participants should bring their instruments/equipment, music lyres, black shorts or jeans (weather-dependent), and personal items like sunscreen or hats. A T-shirt will be provided.
Family Attendance: Due to stadium construction, student tickets are included in the registration fee. A link to purchase tickets for family and friends will be provided after registration.
This event not only offers a glimpse into the life of a university band member but also provides participants with the chance to connect with the students, staff, and faculty of the Pride of the Southland Band.
