Breaking: Demon Clowney Makes It Official, Signs with the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The South Carolina Gamecocks have added a major piece to their defensive puzzle with the official signing of edge rusher Demon Clowney. The former Ole Miss Rebel and cousin of Gamecock legend Jadeveon Clowney is bringing both name recognition and on-field potential to Columbia.
Clowney, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound pass rusher, made his transfer intentions clear earlier this year, and now he’s sealed the deal by inking his commitment to the Gamecocks. He brings SEC experience to a South Carolina defense that’s looking to make serious strides under head coach Shane Beamer. Known for his quick first step and raw athleticism, Clowney has all the tools to become an impact player off the edge.
Originally a four-star recruit out of Baltimore, Maryland, Clowney committed to LSU out of high school before ultimately landing at Ole Miss. He played sparingly during his time in Oxford, showing flashes of potential but never fully breaking out. Now, with a fresh start and a familiar last name in Columbia, he’ll have a chance to carve his own path.
The Gamecocks are looking to build on momentum from the transfer portal and a strong offseason, and Clowney’s addition only adds to the excitement. His physical upside and hunger to prove himself could be a perfect match with a Gamecocks defense eager for playmakers.
There’s no doubt the Clowney name carries weight in Columbia, and while expectations will be high, Demon has a chance to forge his own legacy. With the official signing complete, the focus now shifts to fall camp, where Clowney will battle for a starting role and look to become a disruptive force for South Carolina in the upcoming 2025 season.
