BREAKING: EDGE Rusher Demon Clowney Transferring to South Carolina
In a major development for South Carolina football, former Charlotte, Louisville, and Ole Miss EDGE rusher Demon Clowney has announced his decision to transfer to the Gamecocks. The move brings a familiar name back to Columbia, as Demon is the cousin of former South Carolina legend and NFL standout Jadeveon Clowney.
Demon Clowney, a highly touted prospect out of high school, was ranked in the top 200 of the national high school rankings. He began his college career at Ole Miss before transferring to Louisville, then spent the 2023 season at Charlotte. Now, he’s set to bring his experience and edge-rushing ability to Shane Beamer’s defense in Columbia.
Throughout his collegiate career, Clowney has flashed promise with his athleticism, high motor, and versatility off the edge. While his journey has taken him through multiple programs, he now has an opportunity to make an impact in the SEC and carve out a legacy of his own at South Carolina.
The Gamecocks, who are looking to boost their pass rush following some key departures, will benefit from Clowney’s size, speed, and pedigree. Standing at 6-foot-4 and around 240 pounds, he brings the physical traits to be disruptive in the backfield and contribute right away.
Fans will be eager to see whether Demon can follow in the footsteps of his cousin, Jadeveon, who dominated during his time at South Carolina and became the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. With his SEC experience and family legacy, Demon Clowney’s arrival could be a key addition to a Gamecocks defense looking to make noise
in 2025.
