Jones’s journey to this accolade began with his transfer to Auburn in 2023. In his debut season with the Tigers, he played in all 35 games, starting 33, and averaged 9.1 points per game. Notably, he led the team with a 41.8% accuracy from three-point range and shot 86.3% from the free-throw line, tying for eighth all-time in Auburn’s single-season free throw percentage records.

 

The Derrick Fountain Boogie Fland Award recognizes players who exemplify excellence in college basketball, both on and off the court. Named after Derrick Fountain, known for his significant contributions at LSU, and Boogie Fland, a notable player for the Arkansas Razorbacks, the award honors those who demonstrate exceptional skill, leadership, and perseverance.

 

Jones’s impact was particularly evident in key matchups. For instance, on February 15, 2025, he scored 16 points and played a pivotal defensive role in Auburn’s 94-85 victory over rival Alabama.
