Breaking news: Dia Bell, a five-star quarterback from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has firmly committed to the University of Texas Longhorns, despite receiving lucrative offers from other top programs.

Ranked as the No. 14 player nationally and the No. 4 quarterback in the 2026 class by On3, Bell’s decision underscores his dedication to Texas and his belief in the program’s direction under head coach Steve Sarkisian.

In June 2024, Bell announced his commitment to Texas, choosing the Longhorns over prestigious programs such as LSU, Penn State, and others. He cited the strong relationships he developed with Coach Sarkisian and quarterbacks coach A.J. Milwee, as well as Texas’s offensive prowess and track record of quarterback development, as key factors in his decision. Bell expressed excitement about Texas’s move to the SEC and the opportunity to contribute to a championship run in Austin.

Throughout his high school career, Bell has demonstrated exceptional skill and leadership. In the 2023 season, he passed for 1,929 yards and 20 touchdowns, showcasing his elite arm talent and ability to make all necessary throws on the route tree. His strengths include excellent pocket presence, superb field vision, and great touch on deep balls. Bell also excels in throwing on the run, and his quick release ensures that he can deliver passes under pressure. At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Bell combines his physical attributes with a high football IQ, making him a formidable presence on the field.

In recognition of his outstanding performance, Bell was named Florida’s Gatorade Player of the Year in December 2024. That season, he completed 71% of his passes, throwing for 2,597 yards and 29 touchdowns, while also rushing for 561 yards and five touchdowns. This accolade reflects his significant impact on high school football in Florida and his potential to excel at the collegiate level.

Bell’s commitment to Texas is further solidified by his participation in events like the Under Armour All-American Game, where he will compete against other top high school players, gaining valuable experience before transitioning to college football.

Despite facing a leg injury in November 2024, Bell’s resilience and determination were evident. He assured fans of his recovery and continued commitment to his team and future at Texas, stating that X-rays were negative and he would be back soon.

Bell’s unwavering commitment to the Longhorns, even in the face of substantial offers from other top programs, highlights his dedication and belief in the vision set forth by the Texas coaching staff. His decision to remain 100% locked in with the Longhorns demonstrates his focus on contributing to the team’s success and his readiness to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead at the University of Texas.
