Breaking news: Former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields has agreed to a two-year, $40 million contract with the New York Jets, including $30 million guaranteed.

This move reunites Fields with his former Buckeyes teammate, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, aiming to revitalize the Jets’ offense.

Fields, drafted 11th overall by the Chicago Bears in 2021, spent three seasons in Chicago before being traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers last year. In Pittsburgh, he started six games, leading the team to a 4-2 record, with five passing touchdowns, one interception, and five rushing touchdowns. Despite his dual-threat capabilities, Fields was replaced by Russell Wilson mid-season.

The Jets’ new leadership, including head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, sees potential in Fields to elevate the team’s performance. Fields’ athleticism and familiarity with Wilson could enhance the Jets’ offensive dynamics. Fields’ arrival also signifies a strategic shift for the Jets, who recently parted ways with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers after a disappointing season.

Fields celebrated his signing in Dubai alongside NFL peers Micah Parsons, Bijan Robinson, and Kyle Pitts, reflecting his optimism about this career opportunity. As the Jets prepare for the upcoming season, Fields’ reunion with Wilson and integration into Glenn’s system are anticipated to be pivotal in the team’s quest for success.
