In 2024, Alyssa made history by becoming the first player in Texas softball history to wear the captain’s ‘C’ on her jersey. This honor reflected her exceptional leadership qualities and the respect she commanded among her peers and coaches. Head coach Mike White remarked on her balanced demeanor and ability to connect with all team members, stating, “She’s very balanced in what she does and doesn’t get too down or too high. She also branches across all the different aspects within the team, so she’s able to reach out and talk to anyone.”

 

Alyssa’s journey was marked by resilience and personal strength. In 2021, she faced the heartbreaking loss of her father. Demonstrating her unwavering commitment, she continued to excel on the field. In a touching moment, after hitting a home run, Alyssa’s mother was presented with the ball, symbolizing the family’s enduring bond and Alyssa’s dedication to honoring her father’s memory.

 

Throughout her tenure at Texas, Alyssa’s performance was stellar. She earned All-Big 12 Conference Second Team honors in 2022 and was a unanimous selection for the Big 12 Conference All-Freshman Team in 2021. Her statistics reflect her prowess: in her senior year, she boasted a .336 batting average, with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs over 137 plate appearances.

 

Beyond her athletic achievements, Alyssa was known for her humility, work ethic, and the positive energy she brought to her team. Her former teammate, Janae Jefferson, highlighted Alyssa’s dedication, recalling how she would often seek extra practice to hone her skills.
