BREAKING NEWS: Hailey Van Lith and Angel Reese are set to reunite on the Chicago Sky, rekindling a partnership that once electrified college basketball at LSU.
Van Lith was selected 11th overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft after a standout season at TCU, where she led the Horned Frogs to Big 12 titles and an NCAA Elite Eight appearance. Reese, drafted seventh overall by the Sky in 2024, had an impressive rookie season, averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game despite a wrist injury.
Their previous collaboration at LSU during the 2023–24 season ended in an Elite Eight loss to Iowa. Despite the setback, Reese expressed excitement about reuniting with Van Lith, stating, “Let’s run it back,” signaling their intent to pursue a championship together.
The Sky, aiming to improve upon their 13–27 record from last season, have bolstered their roster with additional draft picks, including Ajsa Sivka, Maddy Westbeld, and Aicha Coulibaly. The team will debut their revamped lineup in a preseason game against the Brazilian national team on May 2 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
With Van Lith’s leadership and scoring prowess complementing Reese’s dominance in the paint, the Sky are poised for a competitive season. Their reunion not only brings a renewed sense of camaraderie but also raises expectations for the team’s performance in the upcoming WNBA season.
