BREAKING NEWS: Ja Morant Invests $3.6 Million to Open Shelter for Homeless Youth in Tennessee.

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has made headlines off the court today with a powerful and inspiring act of philanthropy. The 25-year-old NBA guard has invested $3.6 million to transform a large estate in Memphis into a state-of-the-art shelter and support center for homeless youth across Tennessee.

The facility, which will be called “Morant House,” is set to open later this year. It will offer housing, meals, educational resources, mental health support, and career training for youth aged 14 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming unhoused. The property will also include recreation areas, mentorship spaces, and a full-time staff trained in trauma-informed care.

In a statement, Morant said, “This is about giving young people a second chance and a safe place to grow. I’ve been blessed with a platform and I want to use it to make a real difference in my community. No kid should have to worry about where they’re sleeping at night.”

The project was developed in collaboration with local nonprofits, city officials, and youth advocates, who praised Morant’s commitment to long-term community impact. “Ja is more than an athlete—he’s a leader,” said Memphis Mayor Paul Young. “This shelter will save lives.”

This move comes at a time when youth homelessness in Tennessee has reached alarming levels, with thousands lacking stable housing. By funding this initiative personally, Morant is sending a strong message about responsibility, hope, and action.

Construction is already underway, with plans to open doors by early 2026. Fans and community members have flooded social media with praise, hailing Morant not just as a basketball star, but as a champion

for change.
