Breaking news: LSU Women’s Basketball continues to bolster its roster with the addition of standout forward Amiya Joyner, a transfer from East Carolina University.
Head Coach Kim Mulkey expressed her excitement over the new signee, emphasizing Joyner’s versatility and rebounding prowess as key assets that will elevate the Tigers’ frontcourt next season.
“I’m excited to welcome Amiya to Baton Rouge after an outstanding three-year career at ECU,” Mulkey said. “She has a versatile interior game that will stretch defenses with her ability to play with her back to the basket as well as facing up. Her knack for rebounding will undoubtably be a welcomed addition to our frontcourt.”
Joyner made a name for herself at ECU as a reliable and physical post presence, known for her hustle, rebounding tenacity, and ability to finish around the rim. With her mix of size, agility, and basketball IQ, she brings a dynamic element to an LSU team that is constantly evolving under Mulkey’s leadership.
Her ability to defend multiple positions and create mismatches on the offensive end fits perfectly into LSU’s up-tempo and aggressive style of play. Joyner’s transition into the SEC will be one to watch, as she’ll have the opportunity to make an immediate impact while further developing under one of the most respected coaching staffs in college basketball.
“We can’t wait for her to get to work in the PMAC to showcase her talent in front of the best fans in the country while pursuing championships,” Mulkey added.
As LSU sets its sights on another deep postseason run, Joyner’s arrival adds depth, experience, and toughness to a talented roster hungry for more success. Her contributions will be vital as the Tigers continue to chase national titles and uphold their place among the NCAA’s elite.
