Breaking news: Newly appointed New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore has expressed strong confidence in running back Alvin Kamara,

emphasizing his intention to make Kamara a central figure in the team’s offensive strategy. During his introductory press conference on February 13, 2025, Moore highlighted Kamara’s versatility and pivotal role in the Saints’ offense.

 

“Obviously one of the premier players in our league, his ability to play in the pass game and the run game, all the different versatile roles that he can play,” Moore stated. “And so that’s been a really important piece. It’ll continue to be a really important piece.”

 

Kamara, who will turn 30 before the upcoming season, has been a cornerstone of the Saints’ offense since being drafted in 2017. His dual-threat capability has consistently posed challenges for defenses across the league. In the 2024 season, Kamara amassed 950 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 228 carries, complemented by 543 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 68 receptions.

 

Moore’s commitment to leveraging Kamara’s talents is further underscored by strategic additions to the coaching staff. The Saints have hired T.J. Paganetti, formerly the run game specialist and assistant offensive line coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, to enhance the team’s rushing attack. Under Paganetti’s guidance, the Eagles’ ground game flourished, ranking second in the NFL with 3,048 rushing yards and 29 rushing touchdowns during the 2024 season.

 

Additionally, the return of Joel Thomas as running backs coach brings valuable continuity and expertise. Thomas, who previously served in the same role with the Saints from 2015 to 2023, was instrumental during a period when the team led the league in rushing touchdowns from 2015 to 2018.
