Breaking news: Ohio State men’s basketball has added a major piece to its frontcourt for the 2025-26 season, landing a commitment from Christoph Tilly, a 7-foot, 240-pound center who previously played for Santa Clara.
Tilly, originally from Austria, brings both size and skill to the Buckeyes after a breakout season with the Broncos.
In the 2024-25 campaign, Tilly averaged 12.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game, showcasing a versatile offensive game and a growing defensive presence. Known for his soft touch around the rim and ability to stretch the floor with a reliable mid-range jumper, Tilly gives Ohio State a valuable interior presence that can open up opportunities for guards and wings on the perimeter.
Tilly’s decision to transfer comes as Ohio State looks to reload under head coach Jake Diebler, who continues to shape the roster with experienced, high-impact players from the transfer portal. With several departures in the frontcourt, including the graduation of starting big man Zed Key, the Buckeyes had a clear need for a veteran post player—and Tilly fits the bill.
His international background and development at Santa Clara give him a unique skill set that complements Ohio State’s up-tempo style. Tilly’s ability to run the floor, protect the rim, and finish in traffic makes him a strong candidate for a starting role immediately.
The addition of Tilly marks another significant offseason win for Ohio State, which has been aggressive in the portal as it looks to return to Big Ten contention and secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament. With Tilly anchoring the paint, the Buckeyes now boast a more complete and balanced roster heading into the new season.
Tilly is expected to join the program this summer and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
