Breaking news: South Carolina is reportedly arranging a visit with Utah transfer guard Gianna Kneepkens, one of the most sought-after players in the transfer portal this offseason.

Kneepkens, a 5-foot-11 junior, had an outstanding 2023-24 campaign with the Utes, averaging 19.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steal per game. Her scoring prowess and versatility on both ends of the floor have made her a prime target for top-tier programs across the country.

Known for her smooth shooting stroke and ability to create offense in a variety of ways, Kneepkens would be a massive addition to a South Carolina team that continues to reload under head coach Dawn Staley. The Gamecocks, fresh off another dominant season, are looking to bolster their backcourt with experienced talent, and Kneepkens’ skill set aligns perfectly with their up-tempo, physical style of play.

Kneepkens was instrumental in Utah’s success during her time there, quickly emerging as one of the Pac-12’s top guards. Her offensive efficiency, leadership, and defensive awareness made her a consistent force in one of the nation’s most competitive conferences. Despite battling injuries during parts of her collegiate career, she returned this past season in top form and showcased why she was a former Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

With several elite programs reportedly in pursuit, South Carolina’s ability to bring Kneepkens on campus could be a significant step in their recruitment efforts. Landing a proven scorer like her would not only solidify the Gamecocks’ backcourt but also send a strong message about the program’s continued dominance on the national stage.

As the offseason continues to unfold, Kneepkens’ visit to Columbia will be one to watch closely. Her decision could shift the balance of power heading into the 2025

season.
