Breaking news: Steve Wiltfong, the Vice President of Recruiting for On3, has logged a prediction favoring Notre Dame to secure a commitment from five-star EDGE rusher Rodney Dunham.

Dunham, a standout at Myers Park High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, has been a top target for the Fighting Irish in the 2026 recruiting class. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 227 pounds, Dunham has garnered attention from numerous elite programs, including Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Auburn, and Florida State.

Notre Dame’s persistent recruitment efforts have resonated with Dunham and his family. Following Notre Dame’s appearance in the National Championship game, Dunham’s father noted his son’s enthusiasm for the program, stating, “He wants to go there and of course he’s excited they just played in the National Championship game.” Dunham himself acknowledged the program’s rising appeal, remarking, “They’ve always been top on my list but now this might bump them up to the top spot.”

Dunham’s athletic prowess is evident in his junior year statistics, where he recorded 29 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, five sacks, 16 quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, and a blocked kick. Beyond football, he is also an accomplished baseball player, showcasing his versatility and athleticism.

As Dunham approaches his decision, Notre Dame appears to be in a favorable position, bolstered by their recent success and dedicated recruitment efforts. Securing a commitment from Dunham would not only enhance the Fighting Irish’s defensive lineup but also signify a significant recruiting victory for the program.
