O’Connell Center in Gainesville. Despite a sluggish start, the Lady Vols rallied in the second half to overcome a nine-point halftime deficit.

Florida began the game assertively, leading 16-12 after the first quarter and extending their advantage to 37-28 by halftime. The Gators’ early dominance was highlighted by their control of the paint, contributing significantly to their first-half lead.

The momentum shifted dramatically in the third quarter. Tennessee’s defense intensified, forcing 13 turnovers in the period, which they converted into crucial points. This defensive pressure fueled a 37-point outburst in the third quarter, allowing the Lady Vols to seize a 65-57 lead heading into the final frame.

Sophomore guard Talaysia Cooper was instrumental in Tennessee’s comeback, leading the team with 18 points. Her offensive contributions, combined with a balanced team effort, enabled the Lady Vols to maintain their lead despite Florida’s attempts to rally in the fourth quarter.

On the Gators’ side, senior center Ra Shaya Kyle delivered a standout performance, recording a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Freshmen guards Liv McGill and Laila Reynolds each added 17 points, showcasing the team’s depth and resilience.

While Florida outrebounded Tennessee 47-42 and outshot them from the field with a 46.2% shooting percentage compared to the Lady Vols’ 40.7%, the Gators were hindered by 21 turnovers, leading to 24 points for Tennessee. Additionally, Florida’s struggles from beyond the arc, hitting only 2 of 17 three-point attempts, limited their offensive efficiency.

This victory improved Tennessee’s record to 21-6 overall and 8-6 in the SEC, while Florida fell to 14-14 overall and 5-9 in conference play. The Lady Vols’ ability to adjust and execute in the second half underscores their resilience as they prepare for the upcoming SEC tournament.
