In a significant development for college football recruiting, Twin defensive ends Darryll and Mandrell Desir have decommitted from Florida State University (FSU) and announced their commitment to the University of Tennessee Volunteers. This decision comes after a series of commitments and decommitments involving multiple programs.
The Desir twins, hailing from Miami Norland High School in Florida, initially committed to the University of Central Florida (UCF) in July 2024. However, they reopened their recruitment in November 2024 and subsequently pledged to FSU. Their commitment to FSU was officially announced on December 4, 2024, as part of FSU’s 2025 signing class, which included 18 players.
Despite their prior commitments, the Desir twins have now chosen to join the Tennessee Volunteers, opting for the program over other prominent contenders such as Georgia and Alabama. This move is poised to have a substantial impact on Tennessee’s defensive lineup, as both players bring notable size and athleticism to the field.
Darryll Desir, standing at 6-foot-4.5 and weighing 240 pounds, is ranked as the nation’s No. 41 edge rusher by 247Sports. His brother, Mandrell, at 6-foot-3.5 and 240 pounds, holds the No. 43 spot in the same ranking. Their decision to join Tennessee underscores the program’s growing appeal to top-tier defensive talent and could significantly bolster the Volunteers’ defensive front in the coming seasons.
This commitment not only enhances Tennessee’s recruiting class but also reflects the dynamic nature of college football recruiting, where athletes’ decisions can reshape team rosters and competitive landscapes. The addition of the Desir twins is expected to strengthen Tennessee’s defense and contribute to the team’s future success.
