Breaking: No. 1 WR Prospect Chase Robert Decommits from BYU, Flips to Ohio State Over SEC Powerhouses.

In a stunning turn of events, five-star wide receiver Chase Robert, the No. 1-ranked WR prospect in the nation, has officially decommitted from BYU and announced his commitment to Ohio State. Robert, who had originally pledged to the Cougars early in the recruiting cycle, decided to flip to the Buckeyes despite heavy interest from top SEC programs, including Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn.

Robert’s decision to join Ohio State further solidifies the Buckeyes’ reputation as a premier destination for elite wide receiver talent. Under head coach Ryan Day and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline, Ohio State has developed a pipeline of first-round NFL Draft picks at the position, including Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and Marvin Harrison Jr. That history played a significant role in Robert’s choice.

“I have great respect for BYU and appreciate everything they’ve done for me,” Robert said in a statement. “But after much thought and prayer, I’ve decided that Ohio State is the best place for me to develop as a player and a person. Coach Day and Coach Hartline’s track record with wide receivers speaks for itself, and I want to be part of that tradition.”

At 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Robert is a dynamic playmaker with elite speed, route-running ability, and strong hands. His commitment gives Ohio State yet another elite weapon in its already loaded 2025 recruiting class.

While this is a significant loss for BYU, it is a massive win for Ohio State, which continues to dominate the recruiting landscape, outbidding even the biggest names in college football for top-tie

r talent.
