Breaking: Tennessee senior guard Zakai Zeigler has been recognized as a finalist for two of college basketball’s most prestigious awards:

the Bob Cousy Award and the John R. Wooden Award.

 

On March 3, 2025, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Zeigler as one of five finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, which honors the nation’s top point guard. This recognition underscores Zeigler’s exceptional playmaking abilities, leadership, and significant contributions to the Volunteers’ success this season.

 

Additionally, Zeigler has been named to the John R. Wooden Award National Ballot, placing him among the top 15 candidates for the Most Outstanding College Basketball Player in the United States. This acknowledgment reflects his consistent performance and integral role in Tennessee’s achievements throughout the season.

 

Throughout the 2024-2025 season, Zeigler has demonstrated remarkable skills and leadership on the court. He leads the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in assists, averaging 7.4 per game, and contributes 12.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game.
