KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Lady Volunteers head coach Kim Caldwell received a prestigious honor, being presented with the inaugural “Trailblazer Award” by three legendary former Lady Vols: Candace Parker, Chamique Holdsclaw, and Tamika Catchings. The award, created to recognize individuals who exemplify leadership, innovation, and dedication to the advancement of women’s basketball, highlights Caldwell’s growing impact on the storied Lady Vols program.

In a heartfelt ceremony at Thompson-Boling Arena, also known as “The Summitt” in honor of the late, great Pat Summitt, Caldwell was surprised with the award before a roaring crowd of Tennessee fans. Parker, Holdsclaw, and Catchings—three of the most iconic players in Lady Vols history—delivered glowing remarks about Caldwell’s commitment to the program and her vision for the future.

“Coach Caldwell represents everything this program stands for—excellence, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of greatness,” Parker said. “She is carrying on Coach Summitt’s legacy while making her own mark as a leader.”

Holdsclaw echoed those sentiments, praising Caldwell’s dedication to player development and the empowerment of young women. “She’s not just coaching basketball—she’s shaping lives, just like Coach Summitt did for all of us.”

Since taking over as head coach, Caldwell has quickly established herself as a rising star in women’s college basketball. Her fast-paced, disciplined coaching style has energized the Lady Vols, and her focus on both on-court success and personal growth has earned her the respect of players, alumni, and fans alike.

Caldwell, visibly moved by the honor, expressed her gratitude to the Tennessee basketball family. “To receive this award from three of the greatest to ever wear the Lady Vols jersey is beyond humbling,” she said. “This program has a legacy of greatness, and I’m honored to be a part of it. My goal is to continue pushing the boundaries for women’s basketball, just like these incredible women did before me.”

The presentation of the Trailblazer Award marks another special moment in Tennessee’s rich basketball history, reinforcing the Lady Vols’ status as a program that not only produces champions but also celebrates those who pave the way for future

generations.
