Dawn Staley is once again making waves in women’s college basketball, as South Carolina continues to attract top talent from the SEC and beyond.
Fresh off a 35–3 season and a national championship game appearance, the Gamecocks are reloading with elite transfers and recruits, signaling that Staley’s program remains a powerhouse.
One of the most significant additions is Ta’Niya Latson, the nation’s leading scorer from Florida State, who brings her dynamic offensive skills to Columbia. Joining her is 6-foot-6 center Madina Okot from Mississippi State, adding size and defensive prowess to the roster. These acquisitions bolster a team already rich in talent, including standout freshman Joyce Edwards. Edwards, a former Gatorade National Player of the Year, led the Gamecocks in scoring during her freshman season and earned first-team All-SEC honors—a rare feat for a freshman.
The incoming class also features top recruits like Agot Makeer, further enhancing the team’s depth. With these strategic additions, South Carolina is poised to remain a dominant force in the SEC and a strong contender for future national titles.
Staley’s commitment to excellence is evident not only in her recruiting success but also in her recent contract extension, making her the highest-paid women’s coach in college basketball history. As the Gamecocks gear up for another competitive season, all eyes will be on how this revamped roster performs on the national stage.
