According to multiple sources, it was Jackson State University’s Sonic Boom of the South that performed alongside Usher during the Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 11, 2024.

The Sonic Boom of the South, led by Dr. Roderick Little, showcased their renowned precision and musicality during the performance. Dr. Little expressed his pride in the band, stating, “I cannot think of anything more exciting or rewarding than walking onto the field, hearing the roar of the Super Bowl crowd, and immersing ourselves in the spirit that Usher brought to his performance.”

The opportunity for Jackson State University’s band to participate in the halftime show arose through the efforts of JSU alumnus Cortez Bryant and his connection with Jesse Collins, the executive producer of the halftime show. Bryant recommended the Sonic Boom of the South, leading to their selection for this prestigious event.

While the University of South Carolina’s marching band, known as “The Mighty Sound of the Southeast,” is highly esteemed, there are no reports indicating their participation in the Super Bowl halftime show.
