Done Deal: Notre Dame’s Niele Ivey Lands Nation’s Top Portal Transfer, Former Dukes Guard Commits to Fighting Irish over Alabama, Tennessee, and Dukes.

Notre Dame women’s basketball has just scored a major win in the transfer portal. Head coach Niele Ivey has landed the nation’s top portal transfer in a stunning recruiting victory over powerhouse programs like Alabama, Tennessee, and her former team, the Dukes. The Fighting Irish are getting a massive boost with the commitment of the former Dukes guard, widely regarded as one of the most dynamic two-way players available this offseason.

The guard, who averaged 19.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 2.3 steals per game last season, brings an immediate scoring punch and floor leadership to a Notre Dame backcourt already loaded with talent. Her decision to join the Irish was heavily influenced by Ivey’s player-focused development system and the program’s championship culture.

“I’m beyond excited to be joining Notre Dame,” the guard said in a statement. “Coach Ivey’s vision for this team and how she believes in me as a player made this feel like home from day one. I want to compete for championships, and this is the place to do it.”

The commitment is a statement move for Ivey and the Fighting Irish, who continue to reload rather than rebuild. After an injury-plagued 2024 campaign that ended earlier than expected in the NCAA Tournament, Notre Dame is looking to bounce back in a big way, and this addition could be the spark they need.

With this elite transfer in the fold, Notre Dame now projects as a top contender not just in the ACC, but nationally. Expect South Bend to be buzzing come

November.
