LOS ANGELES Calif. (KPTV) – The top-seeded Ducks landed in Los Angeles on Sunday, ahead of Wednesday’s national quarterfinal college football playoff game against Ohio State.

The path to a national championship has maybe never been more open but it’s also probably never been tougher with the expanded 12-team college football playoff.

The Big Ten champion Ducks last played nearly three weeks ago, after a first-round bye, they’ll now meet Ohio State in round two of the playoffs and part two of their new conference rivalry.

The 13-and-zero Ducks are out to become the first team to ever finish 16-and-zero with the national title trophy in hand on their way back to Eugene.
The Buckeyes are 11-and-2. Oregon handed that OSU one of its defeats back in the middle of October during a classic from Autzen Stadium: 32-31 for the Ducks.
What I remember, it was an intense game,” Ajani Cornelius said. “It was close. It was competitive. That’s what you want as a competitor, as a football player. So, it was an exciting game to be a part of and looking forward to playing again.”
Rose Bowl Stadium is a classic setting – the granddaddy of them all – in Pasadena is as timeless as bowl games get these days. A New Year’s Day tradition.

“I feel like the overall mood is its business,” Kobe Savage said. “Coach [Dan] Lanning does a good job of reiterating that throughout the week telling us it’s not really a bowl game, it’s a playoff game and it’s a do-or-die so it’s definitely a different mindset going into this with a different mentality.”

Wednesday will be the Ducks’ ninth time playing for the roses and the first since 2020. Oregon last made the CFP a decade ago in that championship game loss to Ohio State.

Win Wednesday and play nine days later in Dallas for the semifinals in the Cotton Bowl against either Texas or Arizona State. And it will take two wins to make the national championship game in Atlanta on Jan. 20, 2025.
