Five-star wide receiver Chad Johnson II has flipped his commitment from Alabama to South Carolina.

This unexpected move marks a significant victory for the Gamecocks, who outmaneuvered traditional powerhouses like Alabama and Michigan to secure one of the nation’s top prospects.

Johnson, a 6-foot-1 speedster from Ellenwood, Georgia, is renowned for his blazing sub-4.4-second 40-yard dash times and exceptional agility, making him a formidable threat on the field. His decision to join South Carolina was heavily influenced by the program’s rising trajectory under head coach Shane Beamer and the opportunity to play alongside quarterback LaNorris Sellers. “LaNorris Sellers was a huge factor in my decision,” Johnson stated. “He’s a great quarterback and an even better leader. I’m excited to play alongside him and help bring a championship to the Gamecocks.”

The addition of Johnson significantly boosts South Carolina’s recruiting class, propelling it into the top 20 nationally, according to several recruiting services. Coach Beamer expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We’re thrilled to welcome Chad Johnson II to the Gamecock family. He’s an exceptional talent with a strong work ethic and a passion for winning. We’re excited to see the impact he’ll make on our program.”

Johnson’s commitment is not only a testament to South Carolina’s growing appeal but also a potential catalyst for attracting more high-caliber talent to the program. As the Gamecocks continue to build momentum, this landmark recruitment underscores their emergence as a formidable contender in the SEC and the national college football scene.
