Former South Carolina linebacker Debo Williams recently participated in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookie minicamp, held from May 9 to 11, 2025, at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

Invited on a tryout basis, Williams donned jersey number 48 as he sought to make an impression and earn a spot on the team’s roster.

Williams, standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 229 pounds, was known during his college career for his physicality and aggressive playstyle. His reputation as a run-punishing linebacker aligned well with the Steelers’ defensive philosophy, making his presence at the minicamp noteworthy.

Throughout the minicamp, Williams engaged in various drills and exercises under the guidance of the Steelers’ coaching staff, including inside linebackers coach Scott McCurley. Photographs from the sessions captured Williams actively participating and receiving instruction, highlighting his commitment to adapting to the professional level.

The Steelers have a history of developing undrafted players into key contributors, and Williams aimed to follow in that tradition. His performance during the minicamp was crucial in determining whether he would be offered a contract to continue with the team into training camp and the preseason.

As of now, the Steelers have not announced any official signings resulting from the rookie minicamp. Williams’ efforts and adaptability during the sessions will be evaluated as the team makes decisions on roster additions moving forward.
