In the wake of a pivotal loss to Michigan, Ohio State’s wide receivers coach, Brian Hartline, highlighted the indispensable leadership of junior wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
Hartline credited Egbuka with unifying the team during this challenging period, stating, “He kept me going.”
Egbuka’s influence extended beyond the locker room. Throughout the 2024 season, he emerged as a cornerstone of the Buckeyes’ offense, amassing over 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. His consistent performance and dedication set a benchmark for his teammates, fostering a culture of resilience and excellence.
Head coach Ryan Day also lauded Egbuka’s contributions, emphasizing his competitive spirit and selflessness. Day remarked, “Hard to put into words what Emeka has meant to this team or to me or to my family or to Ohio State.”

Arriving in 2021 as a five-star recruit from Steilacoom, Washington, he chose the Buckeyes to develop under Hartline’s mentorship.
